Power for the People Announces New CEO Appointment

We are delighted to announce that Janine Edwards has been appointed as our new CEO. Janine takes the helm from our Founder and CEO, Nasrin Sharifi, who along with our committed Board of Trustees and incredible volunteer network, has successfully built the organisation to where we are today.

Our Strategic Plan to 2023 reaffirms our commitment to deliver sustainable initiatives for better health, education, food security, and livelihoods, using innovation and clean technologies as the backbone for development. The Trustees recognise that to achieve our ambitions, we need to invest in our own sustainability and capacity. Over the past five years we have benefited from the commitment and passion of our brilliant volunteers and trustees, but to take the next step in our development we now need focussed management time.

This investment in our management capacity will enable us to grow our impact through focussed and accountable attention on sustainable income development, maximising our staff and volunteer resources, implementing management systems and processes, and further developing our supporters, networks and partnerships. The funding for the CEO comes from a specific donor thus ensuring that every penny donated to Power for the People from other sources continues to deliver the greatest possible impact for the communities we work alongside.

Janine has been a trustee of Power for the People for over 2 years now and has served as head of our fundraising subcommittee. Janine joins us from the Foundation for Social Improvement, a sector support organisation for small charities. She firmly believes in the potential and the impact of small charities across all our lives and is excited about putting her experience in supporting, training and advising thousands of small charities over the last decade into action with us.
